Penny Davis has accompanied Woking Choral Society at weekly rehearsals since 1981. She holds a degree in Music from York University, where she specialised in contemporary piano repertoire, and subsequently performed as part of a contemporary piano duo in many significant venues throughout Great Britain. Penny has recently left her post as Head of Music at Godalming College and is currently Co-ordinator of GCSE and A-Level Music for the Junior Department of Trinity College of Music and a senior examiner for Music for Edexcel. Her teaching also embraces specialist music students in the South-West and she uses her wide experience in A-level education in leading INSET courses and writing support materials for music teachers. Penny has been closely associated with the Woking Music Festival since the age of eight, as a performer throughout her childhood and more recently as a teacher, accompanist and long-term committee member, and she plays an active role in encouraging musical performance amongst young people by her involvement in the Woking Young Musician of the Year Competition and the Woking Young Musician’s Trust.
